Our story
We are a small family business from Samoa, now based in Auckland, New Zealand.
My husband and I have explored various side businesses over the years, from baking to custom invitations and even wedding photography. What started as hobbies often turned into a business venture and we believe those experiences helped lay the foundation for Laumei Leka today.
Laumei Leka began as a personal project in 2018, inspired by a desire to create a Pacific-inspired baptism outift for our first born son. By 2019, we officially launched the business in Samoa, expanding into elei fabric printing along the way. This year, we are excited to introduce stencils and digital design services.
My father introduced me to photography, and my mother, a DIY queen, greatly influenced my creativity. My grandparents were also creative influences and because of that, a lot of my work is personal. The loss of my parents and grandparents has fueled a desire to connect more deeply with our Samoan and Tongan heritage.
This year started off pretty hard for us, especially for my husband, with the loss of his beloved mother. She has always supported and believed in us.
Laumei Leka is a tribute to their memory and a legacy we hope to pass down to our two young boys.
